Our Story

The concept for our society grew as Helen Enns worked with many families of young children with developmental delays. Our history is written from her heart.

"Over the last few years, my private physiotherapy caseload began to include more and more very young children, between 12-24 months of age, whose parents were seeking my help often because they knew something was ‘not right’ with their child's development but were not sure what was going on.

I saw there was a need to connect families and to help them navigate the support options that were available to them. Beginning in my basement, a coffee and chat group was formed. As the number of families increased, we began to call these groups ‘Step by Step’, referencing the baby steps of progress we were witnessing and celebrating together.

That small community has grown into the charitable society that it is today, supporting and uplifting families as they walk the path of their child’s development.”
